“Bought by my late father 15 odd years ago as his daily driver – he drove it home from Kent and found major rot in the chassis rails and so started a 10 year restoration!
Initially it went to a local restoration company to strip, repair and paint the car. They did a beautiful job of the welding and paintwork but closed down before the car was put back together. Dad had already pulled the interior and mechanicals out and had the engine and box rebuilt at local engineering companies.
It came home from the first Bodyshop and Dad started to rebuild the car himself, unfortunately at this time he was diagnosed with cancer and the project ground to a halt.
A year or two later I sent it to another other local restoration company that I’ve had various cars rebuilt with and they got the car running, made an extensive list of jobs that needed doing and started rebuilding suspension, brakes, refitting the interior etc.
They got it to a point it was driveable but they could get some things working, so Dad bit the bullet and sent the car to Derek at GM6 in Penzance for the final stage of the project. Derek went through the entire car and retrofitted cruise control, rebuilt the window switches and ….” READ MORE …
