For sale on eBay, this 1979 Austin Allegro 1.3 is a true survivor with just 19,226 miles, making it a collector’s dream or an ideal candidate for restoration. Originally Ziebart-treated from the factory, it has avoided major rust and remains solid underneath, unlike many of its era. The 1.3 A-Series engine, shared with the Mini and MG Metro, is reliable and runs well, though years of grime add to its originality. The interior is exceptionally well-preserved, with no rips, wear, or dashboard cracks, making it a rare find in this condition.
Mechanically, it has had new tyres, gold calipers, fresh brake components, fuel flexi pipes, points, condenser, and distributor, ensuring it remains roadworthy. The clutch is high, likely due to elderly previous owners, but the gearbox feels tight, and the steering and brakes are solid. MOT and tax-exempt, it’s usable as a daily driver or a great base for a full restoration. With only a handful of these left, this unrestored Allegro deserves to be saved. Open to PX or swaps, including classic Fords, MGBs, or large cruiser bikes.

( will go up slightly as used every other day) .
Genuine miles, elderly previous owners so clutch is high through being ridden I assume!
Interior is very very good, no rips tear or wear, dashboard uncracked too.it’s 1.3 a series engine like the mini and mg metro so reliable.Runs very well obviously, years of genuine grime on engine.Originally treated from factory with Ziebart which has done exceptionally well just not perfect but it’s saved it from the welder well enough.NO underseal hiding anything, it’s still covered underneath with the ziebarted wax coating as is under the bonnet, hence I’ve not cleaned it off so not “shiny”Had new tyres, new gold calipers, recently done brakes, pipes, hoses, fuel Flexi pipes, new points, condenser, distributor.Having dealt with crappy classics for 40+ years, this was meant to be restored to its previous ugly but beautiful past. It’s tax and MOT exempt and far from the usual welded up 15 times bag of shite.Body is Very tidy apart from drivers front edge of Wing, small hold above indicator that has been repaired before, passenger side has minor rust spots. All arches are untouched, drivers door has had bad repair at the bottom at some point but not really noticeable.Apart from clutch being high it drives exceptionally well.New gbox rubber mounts too so gearbox feels nice n tight too, as is steering and brakes.Underneath has survived especially well for any British Leyland or any vehicles of similar age.95% is spot on, minor surface rust on jacking points but still there and untouched, floor pans and sills never welded. As it’s the L model there was no soundproof or insulation so recently ……. ” READ MORE …
