Local Cat Refuses to Sit on Renault Kadjar — Sits on Literally Every Other Car
“I’ll sunbathe on a Kia Picanto, I’ll nap on a compost bin, but I draw the line at that.”
A suburban street in Bromsgrove has been thrown into mild humour as Bertie, the local cat with strong opinions, continues his dramatic and very public boycott of a neighbour’s Renault Kadjar.
While other cars on the road are regular resting spots — including a 2010 Citroën C3, a battered Transit, and even the roof of a VW Beetle — the Kadjar remains a no-go-zone.
“He’s not fussy,” said Karen, owner of a flaking Nissan Micra.
“He sat on my bonnet throughout the night. But the Kadjar? Not once. Not ever.”
A Clear Snub
The Renault Kadjar belongs to Paul Rankin, 48, who says he first noticed the cold shoulder six months ago.
“At first I thought it was coincidence. Then I started watching him.
He’ll lie on a rusted Fiesta with flat tyres, but my Kadjar? He walks past like it’s got fleas.”
Paul has tried everything to lure Bertie: Dreamies, tinned tuna, even a heated pet pad on the bonnet — all ignored.
“He sat on a Peugeot 1007 last week. That’s not even a car.”
Expert Opinion
Local vet Dr. Miriam Tofts believes it could be a matter of self-respect.
“Cats are sensitive to vibrations, temperature… and perhaps bad design choices.
Bertie’s Position
While Bertie declined to comment (on account of being a cat), locals say his behaviour speaks volumes.
“He’s perched on compost bins, quad bikes, and even next door’s barbecue cover. But not the Kadjar,” Karen laughed.
“He clearly has standards.”
Final Thoughts
Paul is sad but remains hopeful of inclusion in spite of his car choice.
“All I want is for him to sit on it just once. Just a paw. A sniff. Something. I bought the fleece blanket and everything.”
But Bertie?
He’s moved on — without a backward glance.
Now happily sprawled across a Seat Ibiza with a cracked headlight, two flat tyres and a “Live Laugh Love” bumper sticker.
For the Kadjar owner, that’s gotta sting !!
