Mercedes SLK250 CDI / SLK250 d Filters: Oil, Air, Cabin & Fuel

For the SLK250 CDI / SLK250 d R172.403 OM651.980, MANN lists C 35 005 engine air filters, HU 7010 z oil filters and CUK 3621 cabin filters. The fuel filter needs an additional check: MANN lists WK 820/17 with integrated heating and WK 8016 x without integrated heating.

Coverage: SLK250 CDI / SLK250 d R172.403, OM651.980 diesel, 2,143 cc, 150 kW / 204 hp. MANN groups these badges in its October 2011–March 2016 catalogue application. Catalogue dates are not registration cut-offs. Petrol SLK250 and later SLC250 d are separate applications.

Filter references at a glance

Engine air filterC 35 005Match R172.403 OM651.980, not the petrol SLK250 application.

Fuel filter without integrated heatingWK 8016 xAlternative configuration, not an automatic substitute for WK 820/17.

These are manufacturer application references, not a rule to renew all filters at every visit. The current product pages identify the heating distinction more clearly than a generic bundle advertised simply for “SLK250”.

Engine air filter: C 35 005

MANN lists C 35 005 for the 2,143 cc OM651.980 diesel, 150 kW / 204 hp. Keep the complete reference when comparing prices or asking a garage to supply parts. A petrol SLK250 filter is a different application, even where a listing groups several R172 models.

Haynes’ named SLK250 CDI plan lists air-filter renewal at 75,000 km or 48 months. Mercedes also identifies arduous use as a reason for more frequent air-filter work. Check history and usage rather than assuming an oil-change receipt means the air filter was renewed.

Oil filter: HU 7010 z

The manufacturer lists HU 7010 z for both covered diesel badges. Compare the full part number and seals supplied. Check the oil quantity separately: our SLK250 diesel oil guide explains the 6.5-litre handbook reference and why a six-litre kit can be short.

Cabin filter: CUK 3621

CUK 3621 is MANN’s activated-carbon cabin-filter application for the covered SLK diesel. It filters cabin ventilation air, so a quotation mentioning only an “air filter” should say which filter is included.

Fuel filter: identify the heating configuration first

MANN’s current WK 820/17 page qualifies the SLK application with integrated heating. Its WK 8016 x page qualifies it without integrated heating. Both list the same diesel engine and badge group, so the badge alone cannot settle the choice.

Before ordering, ask a supplier or workshop to match the current application, installed filter reference and heating arrangement. Vehicle details can be supplied privately for that check. Do not choose by the cheapest kit, general shape or engine capacity alone.

If a kit is otherwise correct but its fuel-filter configuration is unclear, have that item checked separately. Fuel-system work also needs the correct fitting and priming procedure; a catalogue reference is not an installation guide.

Comparing complete service kits

  1. Confirm the diesel application: R172.403, OM651.980.
  2. Check each full filter reference, not just the bundle title.
  3. Resolve the fuel-filter heating configuration.
  4. Check the oil’s actual MB approval and enough oil for the documented change.
  5. Ask whether the cabin filter, seals and delivery are included.
  6. Agree owner-supplied parts with the garage before purchasing.
