How to Find Your Mercedes ASSYST PLUS Workshop Code

The reliable way to find your Mercedes workshop code is to use the maintenance-data procedure that matches its generation, instrument cluster and controls—or ask a workshop to retrieve it. The ordinary service countdown is not necessarily the workshop data you need.

Quick answer

Identify the car and its cluster first. Obtain the applicable Mercedes instructions, read the maintenance data, record the result and exit without confirming a service. If you cannot establish that the procedure fits your car, ask a Mercedes workshop or specialist to do the retrieval.

Why is there no single button sequence?

Mercedes published separate historical technical guides for model 204, models 207/212/218 and another group including 117 and 205. The existence of a shared guide does not establish every later cluster, touchscreen or keyless variant. A procedure’s model list, date and pictured controls all matter.

For oil specifications, filter selection and relevant buying guides, browse our Servicing & Maintenance Guides and choose the vehicle application that matches your car. An ASSYST message alone does not establish which product to order.

Mercedes-Benz Canada’s technical resource page links the historical guides. Treat it as a useful source catalogue, not as confirmation that your UK vehicle has identical instructions or a Canadian maintenance schedule. Your matching vehicle manual and current workshop information take precedence over a broad model-family label.

Later W205 controls need a different workshop-entry reference

Mercedes document AP00.20-P-0046B, dated 18 October 2018, explicitly lists model 205 from model year 2019. Its diagrams and instructions use a Back button and finger navigation pad. This confirms a different documented workshop-entry route from the earlier shared guide; the model year should be checked against the vehicle details rather than inferred from its UK registration date.

The document opens the workshop level and lists ASSYST PLUS among its menus. It does not itself supply the complete maintenance-data readout or service-confirmation procedure. Match the current vehicle-specific instructions before proceeding beyond entry, and do not substitute this document for an exact service sheet.

Owner-manual references for W176, X156 and X253

The following Mercedes manuals describe the ordinary service reminder. They help you identify the documented edition and check the due date; they do not establish a hidden workshop-code entry sequence or an exact UK suffix-to-parts list. Match the manual to your car’s equipment and use its supplied UK documents where they differ.

Family and editionVerified owner-display coverage
W176 A-Class, June 2015Printed pages 327–329 describe the service message and the normal Serv. → ASSYST PLUS route to its due date.
X156 GLA, August 2017Printed pages 306–307 describe reminder timing and the normal Serv. → ASSYST PLUS route. Suffix interpretation is qualified for certain countries.
X253 GLC: May 2015 COMAND and April 2019 MBUXPrinted pages 419–420 and 474–475 respectively describe Service → ASSYST PLUS. Controls and interval explanations differ between these editions; do not assume a registration-year boundary or one workshop sequence.

What information should be recorded?

In AP00.20-P-0043EL, the maintenance-data branch identifies service and workshop codes, remaining time/distance and an oil-data record. Note the labels as well as the values: an oil-data record should not be relabelled as a replacement specification.

For a workshop enquiry, attach the complete message and mileage and supply the vehicle identifier privately. Include the date of the reading, because you are asking about the car’s current requirements. A clear photograph helps avoid misreading a character; do not publicly post a VIN or registration when a private enquiry will do.

Reading is different from resetting

The historical document names a Service data branch separately from Full service and confirmation. This guide deliberately does not provide a universal entry sequence or instructions for confirming completed work. Retrieve information using the matched instructions and leave the confirmation route alone unless the maintenance has been completed and its reset procedure is established.

What if the menu will not open?

Do not improvise button combinations taken from an unrelated Mercedes. Check the document’s applicability and seek workshop help. Tell the workshop what you were trying to read and any labels or error messages you saw. Avoid presenting a failed menu entry as proof that the car has no workshop information.

Can a scanner retrieve it instead?

Historical Mercedes technical documentation describes diagnosis equipment as an alternative route. That does not establish coverage for a particular consumer scanner. Before buying, ask for exact maintenance-data retrieval coverage, not only fault-code reading or reset support. Record any proposed product in the registry only after capability is verified.

Getting the actual service sheet

Mercedes’ UK XENTRY WIS page describes model-specific maintenance sheets and vehicle-specific information. Ask your workshop to identify the correct car and configuration, use the current service data and explain each scheduled operation. Its Maintenance Service System supports this maintenance workflow.

The UK Electronic Service Sheet viewer asks for a valid My Service Code to reproduce a sheet. Do not confuse that sheet identifier with the dashboard suffix or workshop code. Without the correct sheet, a generic online checklist remains insufficient for an exact parts recommendation.

What comes next?

Ask the workshop to turn the retrieved data into the applicable service requirements and a written quotation. Recording the code is a useful intermediate step; understanding and completing the required work is the purpose of the process.
