For an early E200 or E250 CGI C207 coupé or A207 cabriolet, start with the 1.8-litre engine identity, the full ASSYST PLUS message and the service history. The reminder tells you when a service is due; the applicable Service Booklet and vehicle service information establish the work, including additional operations.

Coverage: early 1,796 cc petrol E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY with M271.820 and E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY with M271.860, in C207 coupé and A207 cabriolet applications. Later 1,991 cc M274 petrol cars, CDI diesels and larger engines need separate specifications. Check the engine and body style rather than relying on the E200/E250 badge.
Identify the early CGI petrol application
| Covered catalogue application | Engine | Output |
|---|---|---|
| E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY (207) | M271.820; 1,796 cc | 135 kW / 184 hp |
| E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY (207) | M271.860; 1,796 cc | 150 kW / 204 hp |
The body code matters as well as the engine. A C207 coupé or A207 cabriolet is not the W212 saloon, even when a catalogue groups some engine parts together. Use the correct body and engine details when requesting a quotation or checking a service kit.
Nor does “E250 petrol” always describe the same engine. The MANN catalogue separately lists later M274.920 E200/E250 applications with different engine-filter references. Around the changeover, establish the engine before ordering from a registration-year search.
What does ASSYST PLUS mean by A, B and a suffix?
The inspected Mercedes manual describes A as a minor service and B as a major service. It also explains that a further number or letter can indicate additional maintenance. Give the workshop the complete message, mileage and vehicle details so it can identify and price the actual operations.
That explanation does not make a suffix such as B5 a fixed parts list across Mercedes models. Ask which extra work applies to this car, why it is due, and whether its previous renewal is recorded. Our Service A and Service B guides provide the wider context.
Check what the last “full service” actually included
An itemised invoice is more useful for planning than the package name alone. Build a separate dated entry for each additional operation so work is neither bought twice nor assumed complete without evidence.
| Record | Useful detail |
|---|---|
| Engine oil and oil filter | Date, mileage, exact oil product, MB approval and complete filter reference. |
| Engine air filter | A specific renewal entry, separate from cabin filtration. |
| Cabin filter | Reference and steering-side application, especially on a UK RHD car. |
| Spark plugs | Exact reference, quantity, date and mileage. |
| Brake fluid | Renewal date, rather than only a level check. |
| Transmission | Gearbox identity and a separate record of any fluid/filter service. |
The reviewed manual directs owners to the separate Service Booklet for service types, intervals and brake-fluid renewal timing. Use the requirements for your vehicle alongside its record. A manufacturer parts catalogue confirms an application; it does not establish that a component is due at the next visit.
A stored cabriolet needs dates as well as mileage
The manual says ASSYST PLUS does not count periods when the battery is disconnected. If the car has been stored that way, tell the workshop the dates so time-dependent maintenance can be assessed correctly. A remaining countdown should not be used alone to reconstruct the calendar history.
The service display also gives no information about engine oil level. Treat a level warning separately using the applicable manual, rather than assuming the next scheduled service can wait for the countdown.
Ask for an itemised UK garage quote
- Supply the complete reminder, engine details, mileage and the last relevant invoices.
- Ask which inspections and operations the quoted service includes, with labour and VAT clear.
- Separate work due under the schedule from work proposed because the renewal history is missing.
- Request the oil approval and full filter and plug references before comparing parts packages.
- Confirm the gearbox before authorising a transmission fluid service.
- Describe warning lights, running problems and roof faults separately so diagnosis is priced clearly.
After the work, retain the itemised invoice and service-record update. The manual distinguishes hiding a reminder from resetting it after completed work; a reset alone is not evidence of the parts or fluids used.
Oil and parts: use the supporting guides
The E200/E250 CGI engine-oil guide covers the manual’s 5.5-litre reference, permitted MB approvals, a current oil example and choosing enough litres for a service.
Our C207/A207 CGI filters and spark-plugs guide checks engine-filter references, the right-hand-drive cabin-filter option and the NGK plug application. Those details help you assess a proposed kit without treating its contents as the schedule.
Explore the Mercedes maintenance hub. For separate warning lamps, gearbox or cabriolet roof faults, use the C207/A207 diagnostic scanner guide.

- Mercedes manual, printed page 336: brake-fluid timing refers to the Service Booklet.

Checked 20 October 2026. The Mercedes-hosted English manual is labelled 2011 and covers coupé and cabriolet equipment. Its opening disclaimer limits the online document to German-market vehicles and says it does not replace the manual supplied with the car. UK owners should match their own manual, Service Booklet and supplements.
