Local Couple Finally Buy Dream Tesla After Six Years of Wearing Three Jumpers and Eating Egg Mayo in Car Parks

A local couple have finally achieved their lifelong dream of owning a Tesla after six years of financial discipline that included packed lunches, wearing extra layers instead of turning the heating on, and calculating whether switching a light bulb on was “really necessary.”

Mark and Sarah proudly collected their gleaming dream electric car (irony) this week, insisting the sacrifice had been “absolutely worth it,” despite admitting they haven’t eaten in a restaurant since before Brexit, and Mark had been attending the fillings in his teeth with wall filler.

“We started small,” explained Mark, unpacking a slightly sweaty cheese sandwich wrapped in reusable foil. “We stopped buying meal deals. Then we turned the thermostat down to 15°C. Eventually we realised if you just wear a dressing gown over a hoodie, you don’t actually need central heating.”

Sarah added: “Friends laughed when they saw us wearing hats indoors. They’re not laughing now… although they are asking why we’re still bringing packed lunches to Tesla charging areas like its a picnic.”

The couple estimate they saved over £35,000 by avoiding takeaway coffees, refusing to buy branded cereal, and spending six consecutive winters dressed like Arctic explorers while watching television.

“We became experts,” Mark continued. “If you sit under a blanket and hold a hot cup of tea, that’s basically climate control.”

When our reporter gently pointed out that the brand-new Tesla had already lost around 30% of its value the moment it left the forecourt, Mark paused for a moment before bursting into tears and saying, “We try not to think about that.”

After a brief silence, Sarah did the maths. “So… that’s only the first two years of packed lunches, extra jumpers and shivering through winters… and we try not to drive it at all, to keep its value – it’s only covered 1,500 miles.”

The couple agreed it was “a small price to pay,” before carefully folding the sandwich foil to use again tomorrow.

The couple insist there are still more savings to be made.

“We didn’t come this far to start wasting money now.”

Neighbours say they regularly see the Tesla charging proudly on the driveway, not going anywhere, while the couple sit inside the house wearing coats to save electricity.

Asked whether life has changed since buying their dream car, Mark just smiled through his vacant stare and bad breath.
