Rare & Performance Lancias: Models, History & Guides

Unusual Cars marque guide

Lancia turned technical curiosity into some of Italy’s most characterful road cars and most successful rally machines. From the elegant Fulvia and outrageous Stratos to the rear-drive 037, twincharged Delta S4, four-wheel-drive Delta Integrale and discreet Thema Turbo, this guide brings the marque’s rare and performance branches together.

Start here: use the detailed model guides for history, specifications, version differences and ownership checks. Supporting stories and historic sale pages are kept separately so they add context without replacing the canonical guides.

The Lancia performance story

Elegant foundations

The Aurelia established the grand-touring template, while the compact Fulvia brought front-wheel-drive sophistication and rally credibility. The completed Fulvia Coupé guide now covers that technical and sporting foundation in detail.

Purpose-built rally legends

The Stratos, 037 and Delta S4 moved progressively further from ordinary road-car architecture. Together they explain Lancia’s willingness to build around competition rather than merely adapt a showroom model.

Delta domination

After Group B, the production-based HF 4WD and Integrale family became the defining Group A Lancia, delivering six consecutive World Rally Championship manufacturers’ titles from 1987 to 1992.

Fast cars in plain clothes

Beta and Montecarlo derivatives, the Gamma Coupé, Thema Turbo and later Y10 or Dedra performance models show a quieter side of Lancia’s engineering character.
