UNUSUAL CARS MARQUE GUIDE
Alfa Romeo’s rare-car story is built from more than red paint and romance. Twin-cam engines, Busso V6s, transaxle chassis, experimental Zagato bodies and competition-led Q4 saloons make it one of Europe’s richest enthusiast histories.

How the Alfa story fits together
The 105-series GTV and exotic Montreal represent two very different classic Alfa grand tourers. The Alfasud introduced front-wheel drive and boxer engines; the GTV6 and 75 developed the rear-transaxle tradition, with the SZ as its limited-production extreme. The 155 Q4 marked the Fiat-era move to shared platforms and all-wheel drive, while the 916 GTV, 147 GTA and 156 GTA carried Alfa style and the Busso V6 into the 1990s and 2000s.
